Marketing should pay for itself and I’ve built a career on the premise that successful Marketing functions should always expect to contribute to the bottom line.

I’ve been fortunate enough to meet and work with some amazing people over the years. Inspiring leaders that have allowed me opportunities to grow, learn .. make mistakes, and most of the time, backed me. I’ve formed award winning teams and nurtured talent taking little to no experience to some of the most experienced trail blazers in their field today. All of them Incredible creative thinkers and technical problem solvers. I’m proud to have known and grown some of the brightest stars out there and these brilliant minds will always be my proudest ‘work-life’ moments.

2010

Head of Marketing EMEA

Responsible for setting up websites for Insight’s European operation. Navigated a number of acquisitions during the Insight UK start up years and led planning, design and ongoing development of their transactional and public websites. Championed the Global joined up approach to branding and eBusiness evolution, working with PMO to develop rigorous structure to plans and rollouts that contributed to over 40% of sales transacted online, year on year sales growth and increased active customers adopting these platforms for their day to day procurement requirements. A legacy left behind and still in place today.

2016

Chief eBusiness Officer

Driving the evolution of Vohkus Marketing and eBusiness to deliver improved customer experience and satisfaction. Led the rebrand and repositioning of Vohkus to an existing customer base while adding thousands of new ones. Worked closely with our technology partners to develop successful demand generating marketing campaigns creating mutual ROI, working against a backdrop of a ground-up rebuild of this now world class award winning Marketing function.

2021

Marketing & eCommerce Director

Originally onboarded to build an eCommerce presence for TCN, it soon became clear into the role that both Marketing and Digital capabilities were ‘totally’ absent and required focus. Hence the Marketing and eCommerce title that as we progressed, swallowed up a number of other operational functions as the business realised it required a complete rewire of process and automation. Responsible for all Digital platforms and UX innovation. I was charged with building out a new team to plan, design and develop to improve overall customer experience and relaunch the brand.

2023

Freelance Consultant

A seasoned eCommerce and Marketing leader now utilising skills honed over time in the technology sector and helping others to drive growth and increase demand in new markets. Working for the most part within IT reseller environments I was often asked to help support customer conversations when the subject turned to ‘marketing and digital operations’. From website builds to CRM implementation, data cleansing to eCommerce. there was always a business problem with a digital solution and so with a little bit of confidence and a heap of experience, Ben Marketing was born.

Progress takes place outside of comfort zones and I’ve been really uncomfortable for as long as I can remember.
